Registration for Driver Education is on a first-come, first-served basis. You must submit the following information to Mrs. Raines in the Counseling Center by Wednesday, May 3, 2023:

1. This form completed and the Rules and Regulations Agreement signed
2. Registration fee $250.00 – Checks payable to Mertz ISD - payment due by Wednesday, May 3, 2023
3. Copy of Learners Permit must accompany this form (copies can be made in the Counseling Center).

If you miss a classroom session or driving session there is a MANDATORY FEE OF $25.00 for each session missed. If you miss more than one (1) session you will not receive the MV-285 certificate. There will be ONE make-up time at the end of the session. 

Signature of parent/legal guardian is required to complete the registration process. All school policies are also in effect for driver education students. To ensure the safety of all participants, disturbances in the car or classroom may result in expulsion from the
Driver Education Program. There will be no refunds for missed sessions. You must be 16 years of age by July 1, 2023 and hold a valid New York State learner's permit to register for Driver Education. You must maintain a good driving record during the semester. Your MV-285 certificate will be withheld or denied if you are involved in traffic violations/accidents, or owe any money during the Driver
Education session.

The classroom sessions will begin July 10, 2023 and will run M, Tu, W, Th 10:00-11:30 the first week. Each subsequent week classes will run M, T, W. Any scheduling issues can be discussed with your classroom instructor or the in - car instructor. If you miss more than one (1) session you will not receive the MV-285 certificate.
